What is the Nashville Metro Council?

The Nashville Metro Council is a 40-member body of elected representatives, of which 35 are elected by district and 5 are elected at-large, or county-wide.  Members serve 4-year terms. The presiding officer is the Vice Mayor, who is elected at-large. 

Metro Council meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm at the David Scobey Council Chamber in the Metropolitan Courthouse, One Public Square in downtown Nashville.

In the time of COVID-19, how can I participate electronically in Council business?

The Planning Commission has added options for remote participation and virtual public comment.  The regularly scheduled May 14 Planning Commission meeting Planning Commission meeting will be virtually held at 4:00 p.m. Central Standard Time. You can watch the meeting live and send comments to the Planning Commission for the items on the agenda.

All meetings are open to the public and the first meeting of every month is a public hearing (*).
